A sense of belonging.

That's the topic of conversation in Sheila’s latest YouTube podcast, which sees her having a fireside-style chat with fellow author Kim Nash.

Renowned for writing romantic fiction, Kim also runs Fiction and Fairy Lights bookstore in Hednesford, where Sheila recently delivered an intimate, sell-out mental health talk based on her two books, ‘The Power of Knowing You,’ and ‘Behind Closed Doors,’ and their origins.

In the new podcast, which is part of Sheila’s Counsellor Convos series, the pair discuss the importance of making others feel welcome, creating a sense of belonging, and the role of kindness and community.

“Turning pain into power.”
That’s what last night was all about.
And wow — what a turnout!

Thank you to everyone who packed out Hednesford’s Fiction and Fairy Lights bookstore for my sold-out book reading.
Together we laughed, we cried, we sang, and we connected.
It was an absolute honour to share extracts from both of my books, The Power of Knowing You and Behind Closed Doors, and the response from people of all ages was truly wonderful.

We shared some deeply honest moments as we reflected on the experiences that shape us - both painful and empowering.
We explored where beliefs come from, the importance of humour and how it can help heal, and how creativity can become a lifeline.
We even joined together in song, including renditions of 'Stand By Me' and 'What’s Up?'
And for the first time, I also read aloud a section from The Power of Knowing You, written from a child’s perspective.

Thank you again to everyone who came along and helped make the evening so special.

A huge thank you to Fiction and Fairy Lights owner, fellow author Kim Nash, and her brilliant team for championing local voices and for creating such a welcoming space where stories can be shared with warmth and honesty.
