Happy mothers day to all those hard working and hard studying mums. I know today will be tough to come into study but we do understand as most of our tutors are mothers too.... and if they aren't mothers they certainly had a mother ;) so make that breakfast count and we will see you soon!
Quick reminder the clocks went forward last night but.... so did most of your smart phones etc so double check your time with the TV or reputable web site and make sure you aren't late! And that you grab one of those yummy coffees on the way in to help with the early start.
This time next week it will be two of my favorite ACCA papers the delightful P5 and the awesome P1.
So lets start with P5 the best and last word of advice is to read the question and then read it again! watch out for the little words 'why' would we use this technique? or 'how' would we use this technique? or even is this technique suitable!
You wont often find the main focus of the question is can you use this technique. To put it bluntly you have done that in the F5 paper so this is the higher level skill of showing that you understand what you are doing and aren't just going through some rote learned motions... keep that in mind and the paper suddenly makes sense :)
As for P1, well the problem with this paper is the lack of content to actually use to hang your answer on. This means that most papers will have a what are the risks question with a dabbling of ethics - the AA model is great here although the quick 5 questions are always handy.
The scenarios will always be lengthy as they must contain the answer so if you know your theory and have an idea about risk and the control cycle then this becomes little more then an English interpretation exam. Again don't over complicate it and justify your answer with quotes from the scenario - just like you would in that English exam.
With both papers stick to the point don't overwrite and ensure that the question is answered... if you tend to loose your focus stop and reread the question then think does my answer answer it!
Best of luck with the rest of your studies and focus on those old exam papers.
