The B17 Utmost has winged its way across the Atlantic – and our cousins to the west have done some very cool things with the first ones into the country.

One for the Deadheads, the build from Allez LA! is truly remarkable. It’s a 1995 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo model released to pay tribute to legendary rock band, The Grateful Dead. These frames are rarer than hen’s teeth, and to see one built up with an Utmost is pretty magical. The build also has some other fine details, including a custom-built fork & stem combo by Larkin Cycles. The overriding impression is of a bike brimming with patina.

Angry Catfish Bicycle & Coffee out of Minneapolis put together something entirely different but just as special. We love some local flavour, and this lustrous green Sugar Foot frame was fabricated in Minnesota by Wilde Bikes. Diehard 90s MTBers will notice the Onza Chill Pills right away. Don’t let the lugs fool you, Wilde describes this as a super-comfortable, 650b all-road racer. This Catfish build was kindly photographed by jarrod_from_hope.
