In October 2011 Farnham Common became one of the first libraries within Buckinghamshire to transition to Community Library status, where all library services are organised and run by unpaid local volunteers. The Summer Reading Challenge has now started. Join Read to the Beat at Farnham Common Community Library and enjoy a summer packed with stories, music, creativity and fun! It’s free to join, just visit us to sign up and start your child’s reading adventure.

Have you signed up to the Read 6 in 2026 challenge? As part of the Go All In, National Year of Reading, Buckinghamshire Libraries invites you to take part in our Read 6 in 2026 reading challenge for adults! There will be 6 reading goals throughout the year with different themes. Any participants who complete the challenge will be entered into our prize draw.
Over the course of the year, read a book from the six suggested categories - we have some suggested titles for each goal, but feel free to choose a title not on our list!
This is a self-paced challenge where you, our avid reader, mark your own progress by logging into your library account and selecting which goals you have completed. Alternatively, tell a member of staff on your next library visit and they will update your challenge progress for you!
