Positive Image Camera Club

My local camera club "Positive Image Camera Club" of which I am a member will be holding our first ever exhibition at Chapeltown Library just outside of Sheffield on the 14th to 20th September and showing off a selection of members photographs covering a small selection of topics. If you are local why not go along and spend some time viewing our selection. You may even spot a couple of my photos which are not my usual theme of choice.

For those who are familiar with my musical tastes, there is one of my photos included in the poster of the vocalist from a well established band that I enjoy seeing live.

On the 20 May 24 we host a Zoom presentation by Ruth Grindrod - My Vision My Practice
Ruth is a landscape photographer currently living in Norfolk, East Anglia. Her work takes her to a variety of locations and her passion is for coastal photography.
Ruth was a winner in Landscape Photographer of the Year and overall winner of the Scottish Nature Photography awards 2019, plus many other awards.
This presentation considers elements of theory and my practice in landscape photography and shows a range of Ruth’s work, in colour and black and white, from around the the UK and other parts of the world. Her talk will focus on how she achieves her style of photography and will feature many new photos and how Ruth shot and processed them.

The talk is free to our members (Positive Image Camera Club). But we also welcome non members, however, we do ask that non members make a small contribution of £3.50 which goes towards our speakers fees. Macro Photography with Derek Gale

Club members enjoyed an excellent talk last night given by Derek Gale on the subject of macro photography. His practical advice on what equipment is needed for macro was enlightening. From the use of macro lens, extension tubes with normal lens and a £4.99 lens for a mobile phone he showed that anyone, on any budget, can enjoy macro photography.
We look forward to inviting Derek back at some point in the future for another of his entertaining and informative talks.

Derek has been a photographer for many years, enjoying both the film and digital eras. He loves looking for the less obvious and is an experienced tutor.
His talk will be delivered via Zoom on 19 February 24 @ 7:30pm and covers:
The Equipment: Normal lens closest focus, Compact camera close-up mode, Reversed lens, Supplementary close-up lenses/filters, Water droplet on mobile lens, Extension Tubes, Dedicated Macro lens, Macro lens plus tubes.
He will discuss issues such as:
Camera Movement, Subject Movement, Focusing - Peaking/magnifier, Depth of Field, Focus Stacking, Lighting for macro.
