Who are Pryor Marking?

No two production lines mark parts the same way. Our dot peen range doesn't expect them to.

From handheld portable units to benchtop systems, floor-standing workstations, and fully integrated production-line solutions, Pryor dot peen machines come in whatever shape and size the application demands. The constraint has never been the marking method. It's getting that method to fit your part, your process, and your floor.

The PortaDot 60-30 Touch is a good example of where that thinking leads.

It's a fully cordless, battery-powered marker with the control system built directly into the marking head. No separate controller box, no PC required. The 5.7 inch touchscreen lets your team create, edit, and save marking layouts on the machine itself, then load them again next time the same job comes round.

It runs on a 36V battery for a full working day, with patented technology that keeps marking force consistent even as the battery depletes. That matters more than it sounds. A lot of portable markers lose depth and clarity as charge drops. This one doesn't.

It marks engineering materials up to 62 HRC, produces 2D Data Matrix codes, QR codes, and logos, and the adjustable face mask with V grooves means it copes with tube and pipe profiles as easily as flat plate.

Whether you need something that lives on a bench, integrates into a line, or goes wherever the part is, there's a Pryor Dot Peen Machine that fits. All manufactured right here in .

We started making marking equipment in Sheffield in 1849. The machinery has changed considerably since then. It's even changed quite a bit since the picture. The address hasn't, we're still in Sheffield.

177 years later, everything we build is still designed, engineered, and manufactured here. Every laser marking machine. Every dot peen unit. Every bespoke automated cell.

We mention this not as nostalgia but as a practical point for buyers evaluating marking systems: when something goes wrong first thing on a Monday Morning, you're calling Sheffield. You're speaking to the engineer who built the system, the programmers who program the software.

That matters more than it sounds when you're trying to get a production line back up.

The EU Battery Regulation sets four compliance deadlines. The most immediate is February 2027, when EV batteries placed on the EU market must carry a Battery Passport linked to a permanently marked unique identifier on the physical battery.

That's fewer than eight months away; the clock really is ticking.

The regulation specifies that the mark must be "printed or engraved visibly, legibly and indelibly." Labels are none of those things over a 10–20 year battery service life in a thermal cycling, chemical, and mechanically demanding environment.

We've written a plain-language guide to what the regulation requires, which marking methods meet it, and why the 2027 deadline is earlier than most compliance teams are planning for. Link in the Comments:
