As a rescuer, going into a government shelter and deciding which dog to save, is a very emotional, overwhelming task. Most Turkish government shelters have well over 500 dogs, all gorgeous and so deserving of a loving home. With local adoptions in Turkey basically nonexistent, we are their only hope of a better life. You really feel the weight of the responsibility knowing that the dog you choose will get to go on to have a good life, and the ones you leave behind will spend the rest of their short lives in overcrowded kennels without any love or comfort. How do you decide which dog to save?!

It's an almost impossible decision, but sometimes a dog gives you a look and you can just tell how deeply upset and stressed they are, and that they won't last long if you don't step in. Survivor number 7 is one of those dogs. She was clearly completely overwhelmed, miserable, and so scared. We couldn't leave her behind.

This poor girl is still quite unsettled from the trauma of her time in the government shelter. Although she is now safe, she is still very on edge and seems to expect to be dragged back to the government shelter at any moment. She has her guard up and is constantly scanning for threats and escape routes.

This sweetheart so deserves to experience what it is like to live a carefree life, to have a happy home and live without a care in the world!

Hopefully we can help her realise she is finally safe, so she can learn how to be happy ❤️

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Nice to get some sun in Scotland. Just chilling with mum today. Well watching her while she is catching up on chores but being supportive and spurring her on in between naps from Nala and Shadow
