Everyone is entitled to an opinion but the single 1 star review on Amazon is definitely an outlier, with all the others (so far) being 4s and 5s.

I can only think that the single star reviewer was expecting an action adventure, which this book is certainly not.

It is a poignant story that moves many to tears, as well as laughter, as they relate it to their own experiences of dealing with dementia in their family.

Perhaps that reviewer has no such experience and so cannot empathise with the pathos, sometimes comical, but the overarching sadness as you see your loved one gradually fade away. Shining a light on the inadequacy of the care system.

Personally I think this book would make an excellent screenplay for a 3 or 4 part tragi-comedy-drama on TV, or a movie like "The Woman in the Van", with Penelope Wilton as Joan and Sally Hawkins as Katie....
