Another birthday, another 2 Munros ticked off.
⛰️ We did a long hillwalk of 31km (19.25 miles), climbing Derry Cairngorm and Beinn Mheadhoin.
We made 3 friends along the way: Tony, Al and Ron.
⛰️ The summit of Beinn Mheadhoin at 1182m has several massive lumps of granite on top (called tors) and the true summit is the largest tor.
⛰️ The boys encouraged me to set aside my fear of heights and conquor the rock (after a couple of attempts and losing my bottle). Tony even climbed back up with me a 2nd time. Thanks lads! These 3 all met while out in the hills and regularly go walking together. Brilliant!
🏞 Day 2 was the Seven Bridges circuit, beside the beautiful River Dee. We made a detour to 16th century Knock Castle, with a gruesome tale of 7 sons being executed by a rival clan. When news reached their father, the Laird of Knock Castle, he fell down the 4 storey stone steps and was killed.
