๐ญThinking over coffee this am, let's talk about the quality small breeders, the one's who rarely get recognition. I felt this timing appropriate to share this again, with wisdom from Valri Brown. I want to put the emphasis on "responsible". Just because someone is small does not mean they are responsible.
โจ"I want to put in a plug for us ARABIAN BREEDERS, the few of us that are still left out there- the ones that breed quality Arabian horses! The ones that are trying to hang in there!
In the last 6 weeks I have had 3 people tell me, "Wow, there aren't many people still doing what you are doing". Well what does that mean?
If you are looking for a quality well bred horse, PLEASE take the time to check out what we breeders have for sale!!!
We strive hard to breed for the best bloodlines, for trainablity, athleticism, willingness, correctness of conformation, beauty, arabian type, soundness, disposition and the list could go on.
Most of the time we have spent considerable money to buy the mare and the stallion, breed the mare, feed the mare for a year till she foals, and feed the baby for 2-3 years before it is ready to sell either started or broke to ride which is a considerable amount of training. And we try to do right by the horse at all times.
There are people out there like me who LOVE this life and the Arabian horse. I think I speak for a lot of other breeders as well when I say that that we want to continue for a long time, but only with your support!!!
Support the RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS in our Arabian horse COMMUNITY because they are getting few and far between. " โจ
๐In light of the increasing interest from auctions and rescues that promote doom and despair with cheap, attractive pricing, I thought the need to share this again. People need to realize , just because a horse is at auction, does not mean it's going to slaughter. Also meat pricing on Arabs has little demand and kill pen auctions are a pyramid scheme lining the pockets of those who run them and the actual slaughter pipeline. If the horse is lucky to get picked up by rescue, they are safe. Rescues have entirely more support than breeders ever will and are supported by private donations and tax free, while responsible breeders pull everything from their own pockets and go without in order to do so. My view might not be popular, but if responsible, quality, thoughtful breeders continue to get undercut, we cannot continue to breed. We WILL be gone.
