๐Ÿ™๏ธโค๏ธ YOU'VE SPOKEN, AND THERE'S A VERY CLEAR MESSAGE!

Earlier this week, we asked what ONE new business, attraction or experience you'd most like to see in Perth city centre.

The response was fantastic, and after reading through the suggestions, a few very clear themes have emerged.

๐ŸŽณ ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT!

If there was one suggestion that kept appearing, it was ten-pin bowling!

But it certainly didn't stop there. Escape rooms, indoor crazy golf, roller skating, arcades, laser tag, trampolining and other family activities were all mentioned repeatedly.

The message? Perth needs more things for people to actually DO, particularly families and teenagers.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ MORE CHOICE ON THE HIGH STREET

There was also plenty of demand for better shopping, particularly clothing and footwear, with names such as Zara, H&M and HMV among those mentioned.

But independent shops, indoor markets, local makers and craft businesses featured too.

๐Ÿข THE FORMER DEBENHAMS BUILDING

This came up time and time again!

Rather than simply filling it with another large retailer, several people suggested turning it into a destination in its own right, combining entertainment, independent businesses, food and activities under one roof.

๐ŸŒ™ GIVE PEOPLE A REASON TO STAY AFTER 5PM

This was another recurring theme.

More evening entertainment, live music, activities for young people, better transport connections and a city centre where people feel comfortable spending time after dark.

And that brings us to what we think is the most interesting takeaway from the entire discussion.

๐Ÿ’ก PERTH DOESN'T JUST NEED MORE SHOPS. IT NEEDS MORE REASONS FOR PEOPLE TO VISIT AND STAY.

Think about it.

A family coming into Perth for a couple of hours of bowling might also visit a cafรฉ, have lunch, browse the shops or enjoy dinner before heading home.

A group of friends visiting an escape room might spend the rest of their evening supporting other city centre businesses.

A regular indoor market could bring people into town who might not otherwise have made the journey.

One successful attraction doesn't just benefit the business operating it. It creates opportunities for businesses around it.

Of course, there are challenges. Parking, public transport, vacant buildings and the condition of parts of the city centre were all raised, and those concerns deserve attention too.

But what struck us most was the number of people offering genuine, constructive ideas for Perth's future.

There's clearly no shortage of imagination or enthusiasm for seeing the city succeed.

So here's our follow-up question.

๐Ÿ‘‡ IF PERTH COULD DEVELOP ONE MAJOR NEW CITY CENTRE ATTRACTION, WOULD YOU CHOOSE:

๐ŸŽณ A family entertainment centre with bowling, games and activities?
๐Ÿ›๏ธ A major new shopping destination?
๐Ÿ” An indoor market with independent shops, food and entertainment?
๐ŸŽถ A live music and evening entertainment venue?

Or would you do something completely different?
