John Peel once said Leeds’ LS6 postcode had more bands than anywhere in the UK. This mixtape attempts to document some of the groups active in the early-2000s heyday of the Leeds DIY scene: self-organised gigs in sweaty pub rooms, social clubs, squats and house parties, with the Cops & Robbers listings zine as oracle of events. The Messthetics of course feature Brendan Canty and Joe Lally, otherwise known as Fugazi's rhythm section, one of the greatest of all time.

James Brandon Lewis has been lauded by jazz legend Sonny Rollins, who said: "When I listen to you, I listen to Buddha, I listen to Confucius... I listen to the deeper meaning of life", and Marc Ribot, who describes Lewis as a keeper of John Coltrane's legacy: "James Brandon Lewis' solos are like a jumbo jet - you need to give them plenty of runway space to take off and land".
