We’re pleased to see this project shared.

Oak Holt shows how important it is to think beyond immediate needs and plan for life in the long term after serious injury. From early accommodation solutions through to a permanent, purpose-built home, collaboration between legal, rehabilitation, case management and design professionals can help create spaces that truly support independence and family life over time.

This home belongs to Ed who now works with us at Barratts Solicitors, bringing his lived experience of serious injury together with medical and legal insight - a perspective that underlines just how important thoughtful, long-term planning can be.

We’re pleased to share our latest case study, Oak Holt, a carefully designed, accessible home created to support long-term independence following a severe spinal cord injury.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, early planning and collaboration between legal, case management and construction teams can result in a home that meets complex clinical needs while remaining practical, sustainable and future-proofed.

Congratulations to our head of Clinical Negligence, Alison Brooks, who completed the 5km on Sunday in support of the Richard Whitehead Foundation. Fantastic day with such a great inclusive atmosphere.

Alison introduced Richard to Footprints Conductive Education Centre and he agreed to be a patron of their charity, so it was great to see Stephen Frew and Claire Clarkson there from Footprints. Richard Whitehead does an amazing job supporting the charity, which offers Conductive Education to children with Neurological conditions, such as and children with Downs Syndrome.

Alison also met Paige and her colleagues from the Matt Hampson Foundation, who support clients after sports injuries; their beneficiary was able to walk the 5km course after receiving neurophysiotherapy at the Centre, having previously been a wheelchair user. An unbelievable achievement!

Thanks again Richard Whitehead for organising the weather and your continued inspiration to encourage people with disability to achieve their full potential.
