Refugee Week happens nationally every June, with events anchored around World Refugee Day (20th). Refugee Week is an act of welcome, a gesture of solidarity & a shared celebration. Here’s what’s happening across Nottingham. These events explore journeys of refuge, community, and creative resistance.
🕚 11AM–1PM | What Does it Mean to be a Refugee?
Join the National Holocaust Museum for a guided tour of The Journey, a newly reopened exhibition. Hear refugee stories, view artefacts, and reflect on why people are forced to flee and how they are received.

Join us a Nottingham Playhouse this Refugee Week for two powerful, creative events celebrating community and sanctuary.
🎧 12–6PM | Meet Your Neighbours Installation
Step into a miniature pop-up neighbourhood and explore stories from people seeking sanctuary in the UK, through audio, art, and digital design, created by Maison Foo and artists from around the world.
🎶 6–8:30PM | Community as a Superpower with Refugee Roots
An evening of live music, joy, and reflection — with performances from local artists and a second chance to experience Meet Your Neighbours after hours.

We are delighted to be involved in Refugee Week again this June and we’re excited to invite you to get involved... 🙌
Hosted by Refugee Roots Women’s Group, we join them in warmly inviting you to a morning of Bollywood Dance 💃, with Gualra Dlixat, on Tue 17 Jun, 10.30am-12pm.
This is a women’s dance session. We are an inclusive space and all women are welcome - No previous dance experience required, just come and enjoy the music and movement.
Later in the week on Sun 22 Jun 5pm-8pm, we invite you to bring the Refugee Week celebrations to a close with a special evening of music from across the globe with DJ Mayeva and DJ Simba.
Be together with music and celebrated the world, our city and the people in it. 🤩
Activities are free and suitable for all interests and abilities. We recommend booking a free ticket in advance via the link in our bio as capacities are limited. 🎟️
