With around 500 Excel formulae now available, which should you actually use, and which can you safely ignore?

I tried to create a 'top-40' formula video, a bit like the music chart rundown! But, found that I'm only using around 30 with much frequency (get it?)

Yes, I found I'm only really using around 30 Excel formulae on a day-to-day basis.

💻Need a FREE Excel Course for you, your team, colleagues, family or significant other?
💻30 Day Excel Analyst aims to transform your analytical skillset in 30 30-minute sessions
💻The course is now complete and viewable for free

💻HOW IS 30 DAY EXCEL ANALYST DIFFERENT?
As an Excel beginner, or even an Excel intermediate, everything you could possibly want to learn in Excel is covered on the internet. Youtube, Podcasts, Instagram and even TikTok - you can learn about Excel anywhere, and everywhere! So, why are so many people frustrated with Excel? Fundamentally, what's missing, and how might 30 Day Excel Analyst help fill that gap?

Well, I can't promise to alleviate all your frustration with Excel! (As we'll learn, a degree of frustration with Excel is natural ... and even helpful.) But, I can provide something different, and something you don't see much on the myriad of online platforms: a long-term, strategic perspective and a roadmap for improvement.

There are plenty of technical explanations available on line. And, don't worry, there is a technical component to this programme. But, at Tiger, we say 'Don't Be A Technique Collector, Be A Value Creator'. In other words, focus on actual problems, and learn what you need to help people using Excel in the real world - including yourself. Let that be the guiding principle for your learning, rather than the latest Excel formula release. Seriously, it won't 'change everything'!

What might change everything, however, is a change in mindset towards Excel learning. In 30 Day Excel Analyst, I invite you to view Excel as a skill. A skill you have to apply in an ever-changing business and data environment. As we'll discover - it's difficult and there are rarely singular best solutions and 'right' answers. But that's ok, In fact, it's a realisation that, like me, you mind find liberating ...

With this in mind, I'll walk you through an Excel toolkit based on my experience of consulting to individuals and organisations across the world over the past decade, whilst building an online following of over 90 000 subscribers.

I'll summarise what organisations actually use Excel for, then look at the problems you're likely to encounter, and the tools you'll need to help. These extend beyond Excel since, as a value creator, contextual understanding and project management skills are just as important as the technical aspect.

We'll focus relentlessly on the Excel 'metaskills' - competencies such as the ability to 'debug' Excel formulae that are the real keys to Excel learning. We'll explore the technical aspects of Excel practice through four key skill areas: data management, data analysis, modelling and automation. Though the emphasis is not technical, I will demonstrate the main techniques in Excel, and signpost you to follow-up resources to build your skills and confidence.

We'll make reference to three learning outcomes - technical, project / contextual and career. In other words - can you can get Excel to work, can you get it to work to create real-world value and, can you get it to work for YOU in the broader context or YOUR career?

Over time, we'll develop what all aspiring Excel analysts really need: a framework for helping people in the real world and an overview of what they need (and don't need) to know.

We'll do all of this in 30 sessions of approximately 30 minutes, delivered live and available on replay in perpetuity for ongoing reference.

Ready to transform your analytical skillset in 30 days? It's a privilege to be your guide - welcome to 30 Day Excel Analyst!
