This one is worth the read - Happy International Women’s Day, the day where we celebrate women’s achievements and mark the continued strive for gender inclusion and equality πŸ™Œ

Let’s talk mental health πŸ‘‡

Many of us are aware that men are more likely to die by su***de than women. But, did you know that the number of many major mental health difficulties is higher among women?

Surveys have found that women have lower levels of positive mental health compared to men and these are a few of the factors affecting them:
πŸ‘‰ Race
πŸ‘‰ Stress
πŸ‘‰ Mothering & caring
πŸ‘‰ Gender
πŸ‘‰ Body image
πŸ‘‰ Trauma
πŸ‘‰ and Social class

We all know the saying β€˜you can’t pour from an empty cup’.
Well, women are often the primary caregivers and balancing work, family, and health can be a major challenge for all of us.

The good news is that simple daily habits can help to protect our mental health such as:
πŸ‘‰ Taking care of ourselves physically
πŸ‘‰ Eating a healthy balanced diet
πŸ‘‰ Getting regular exercise
πŸ‘‰ Getting enough sleep
πŸ‘‰ Reducing alcohol and ni****ne
πŸ‘‰ Taking time to relax
πŸ‘‰ Spending time with friends and family
πŸ‘‰ and Making time for things that we enjoy

Physical symptoms such as these that we wouldn’t usually experience, can be signs that we are struggling mentally:
πŸ‘‰ Fatigue
πŸ‘‰ Difficulty sleeping
πŸ‘‰ Sickness
πŸ‘‰ Aches & pains
πŸ‘‰ Feelings of overwhelm
πŸ‘‰ Feeling helpless
πŸ‘‰ or Feeling unable to cope

This International Women’s Day, make the time to check in with yourself and the women in your life ❀️

Together, let’s continue to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health by having conversations with our family, colleagues, and friends ✨
