In 2018, Llamar moved from Portugal to England to pursue his dream of building a career in the music industry. In 2019, he decided to take the first step, which was to run for “The X Factor”, which in the same year Simon Cowell decided to change the format to a “Celebrities” version, and Llamar was forced to change his plans, and that's when the "Llamar" project was born. The name Llamar is a comb
ination of the initials of the people who mean the most to him in his family and came about just weeks before his first single was released. Using his skills as a music producer, in 2019 he started producing his first songs, but he soon realized the difficulty he had to write his own lyrics in English due to the limitations he had in speaking the language fluently. Without giving up, he used “Google translate” to write the first songs using the Portuguese to English translation, and that's how he wrote “Sophia” and “Don't Leave Me Now”, released in the same year. With the release of his first singles, Llamar gained some visibility from online blogs and local radio stations, including BBC Radio Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, who premiered the song "Don't Leave Me Now" through BBC Music Introducing East Midlands. After releasing “Don't Leave Me Now”, the song reached the top 3 of the most played songs of 2019 on the Canadian radio station "Master Class Radio", and they called Llamar "The Next R&B Sensation". In 2020 Llamar collaborated with DJ/Producer Philip Simons, and together they released a Garage Remix version of "Don't Leave Me Now”, which entered SoundCloud’s official “Top 50 House” chart, in 3 countries. Since the beginning of the project, Llamar has been releasing several singles, and has worked and related with several well-known people in the music industry, including sound engineer Manon Grandjean known for working with big names like Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, Craig David, Aitch, Arrdee, Dave, among others and was followed on social media by Scooter Braun, manager of Justin Bieber, The Kid Laroi and Ariana Grande.
