A Message from Sandra
Working in care has taught me that dementia affects much more than memory it affects families, relationships, and everyday life.
One of the most important things families can do is to remain patient, understanding, and present. While your loved one may forget names, places, or conversations, they will often remember how you made them feel.
Simple things such as spending quality time together, maintaining familiar routines, listening to their favourite music, and showing kindness can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.
Most importantly, remember that you do not have to navigate this journey alone. Support is available, and asking for help is a sign of strength.
Let's continue to raise awareness, show compassion, and support those living with dementia and the families who care for them.
