Across the UK, independent pubs, restaurants, cafés and hotels provide far more than somewhere to eat, drink or stay. They create local jobs, train young people, support British farmers and suppliers, attract visitors and bring life to our towns, villages and high streets.

Yet hospitality in the UK is charged VAT at 20% - one of the highest rates in Europe. In France, Spain and Italy, the hospitality VAT rate is 10%. In Germany, it is 7%.

That is why we are standing alongside , UKHospitality and businesses across the country to support the campaign, calling for a permanent hospitality VAT rate of 10%.

This is not about a handout for a single restaurant, pub or hotel.

It is about creating a fairer system that helps keep prices accessible, protects local jobs, supports apprenticeships and gives independent businesses the confidence to invest, employ and grow.

When hospitality succeeds, the benefits travel much further than the venue itself - through farms, food producers, breweries, tradespeople, local communities, tourism businesses and entire local supply chains.

Britain’s hospitality industry is one of its greatest assets. We want to see it strengthened for the future, not slowly taxed out of our communities.
