🎤 Join us at next Thursday 11th December for a fantastic evening of feel-good festive music, performed by some of the wonderful VPC singers I have the joy of working with!

When work becomes play!

🎧 I opened a Logic session to edit a backing track for our Sing Out Session next week, as there was a long instrumental in the accompaniment.

✂️ As I was cutting the track, I felt inspired by the loop I was listening to, and instead of slicing it completely, I laid down some rough guide vocals as an idea to fill the first part of the instrumental!

▶️ Sometimes playing with your voice, and exploring with no pressure or judgement can be just the thing that inspires creativity!

🗣️ By taking a more playful approach to your voice, you invite curiosity and can open up possibilities, it can also help to relieve stress and boost those feel-good hormones! Why not try it today and give yourself a mid-week lift!

🎄It’s December! It’s tiiiiiime!!

🎙️ For singers and performers, the run up to Christmas (and New Year!) can be such a busy time. So why not give your voice a gift this winter- incorporate stretching in your daily routine!

🛠️ If your voice feels tired, is in recovery from illness, or you just want to give your voice some TLC today, then try adding stretches to your warm up!

🗣️There are so many benefits of stretching before singing, (see my summer stretching reel!) but here’s a few more reasons why just 5 minutes of stretching like I did here, will help to improve your voice:

⏸️ It helps you to slow down, reducing your stress levels and heart rate, giving you a moment to pause in your day, ahead of singing.

🧘‍♀️You can connect with your breath, mindfully and physically. It gives you an opportunity to feel your support system working with you, and as you slowly stretch, it has meditative qualities for your mind and body.

💪 Aids the release of muscular holding- by stretching our muscles in relation to singing, we give ourselves time to release physical tension than may impact on our singing.

🎤 We can see a reduction in vocal effort by including stretching in our prep before singing and performance.
