Ignored by the male-dominated ornithological establishment, Emily Williamson took action to stop the slaughter of birds for fashion and went on to found what became the RSPB.

Going on gallery today, the next local initiative we’re highlighting in our Human Natures exhibition is the fantastic Manchester Library of Things

The Manchester Library of Things (LOT) is a volunteer-run project, which stocks everything a community wants or needs. This includes everything from power drills and pizza ovens and bikes to binoculars. Most items will be donated by the community or bought second-hand.
