VRGeoscience
🎉 Its 😀
Today we are back in , UK, for another look at the Namurian age Upper Haslingden Flags! These stunning deltaic deposits, part of the Carboniferous Millstone Grit Group, comprise a variety of lithologies from mudstone to cross-bedded medium-grained sandstones.

🌍 Today is the International Day for Digital Learning 2026, and this year's theme is "Building Digital Futures for Public Education".
Fieldwork has always been the heartbeat of geoscience education. There's no substitute for standing at an outcrop, reading the rock, and building that spatial intuition from the ground up.
But for many students - for a whole range of different reasons - that outcrop is simply out of reach.
That's where virtual field training changes the equation.
With immersive 3D geological models, photogrammetry-captured outcrops, and interactive analysis tools, lets us bring world-class field exposures directly into the classroom and, with outcrop.io, share them globally.
This isn't about replacing the field. It's about making the field accessible, repeatable, and scalable - so that no student's education is limited by geography, budget, or circumstance.
Happy International Day for Digital Learning to everyone working to make that future real.
It's , and we're revisiting our Flamborough Head (NE England) Cretaceous chalk dataset.
This model integrates three data sources at very different spatial resolutions - a high-resolution outcrop model, a 1m DEM, and the Cesium ion global elevation dataset - blended together in VRGS to provide greater context when interpreting digital outcrop data.
If you'd like to see what VRGS can do for your outcrop data, get in touch. We're always happy to give a demo.
