Small Ripples

The spiritual values and views that I held when I first 'awoke' are so completely different to the ones that I hold now.

Well, maybe not completely different. But I would say that after experiencing the hard knocks of life, they have definitely evolved.

I think perhaps back then, I held a sort of naivety and innocence that I don't have anymore. In some ways, I really miss that girl who just thought love and light solved all problems.

And maybe she isn't wrong. There is something beautiful in being able to respond to every situation in the most loving way possible.

Unfortunately, in this harsh world, it's not always the solution.

I think many of us in the early stages of our spiritual path believed that we needed to aspire to be a some sort of spiritual master in order to grow as a soul.

However, I think as the collective consciousness of humanity has shifted, many of us old souls actually realise that duality is a little more complicated than that.

We have had to learn to navigate the light and the dark and to respond to both accordingly.

In doing so, some of our more idealistic spiritual views were tested and perhaps we adopted a slightly more pragmatic spiritual approach.

And this isn't to say that focusing on love and service to others isn't important.

It really is and it's something the world desperately needs more of but us old souls who run on compassion and love as a default, also have every right to maintain boundaries, request accountability from others, speak up and put ourselves first.

I think in 2026 we are realising that spirituality isn't really about becoming one with the universe but really learning how to navigate the 3D matrix in a way where we can both create those small ripples of love and light and complete our soul mission while still holding boundaries and defending ourselves where necessary.

Today I have been reflecting on the meaning of Easter and some of the teachings of Jesus.

What many people don't know is that many of the traditions of Easter are actually based on the pagan celebrations of the Spring Equinox.

During the time of the Anglo Saxons, the germanic goddess Ostara or Eostre, goddess of the dawn, was worshipped. Her symbols were eggs🥚and hares 🐇 and she symbolised a renewal of nature.

As Christianity began to spread, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus replaced the worship of nature and the traditions of the Spring Equinox and of Pascha merged together.

Going back to my Christian roots, I felt compelled to watch a movie about Jesus' life yesterday and was reminded of some of his teachings. I have always loved his teaching that the kingdom of heaven is within each and every one of us meaning that each of us should focus on our own learning and growth to recieve the gifts of the Divine.

I have always been in awe of the pure Divine love that Jesus embodied.

As a very sensitive soul in quite a harsh world, I always seem to struggle with how to remain loving and compassionate when I have so often found myself on the recieving end of selfish behaviour from others.

I often wonder should I harden myself? Should I be less loving and less compassionate? However, I look to Jesus and look at the love and compassion he radiated from his being and see that no, the world needs that energy.

It needs love, it needs compassion. The key is to move away from people who don't respect or appreciate it because the Divine will always put people on your path that do appreciate it.

As Jesus says, 'do not cast pearls before swine'. It may be one of his more savage teachings as I don't think he would have actually called anyone a pig but the principle holds true. Do not give to people what they cannot or do not value.

I may not exactly be a Christian but I deeply appreciate the teachings of love and hope that Jesus gave us and call upon him regularly for strength, courage and wisdom.
