Honest question for the construction owners reading 👇

What's your client mix today?

🅰️ 80%+ main contractor work
🅱️ Mostly main contractor, some end client
🅲️ Roughly 50/50 blend
🅳️ Mostly end client, direct relationships

Each one runs differently:

A means consistent flow, but thin margins and slow cash. You're often funding the main contractor's working capital, whether you realise it or not.

B is where most firms are. Aware of the trade-off, not yet acting on it.

C is a deliberate choice and often a healthier shape.

D usually means higher margins, better cash, smaller projects.

There's no objectively right answer (each suits a different business model). But the answer says a lot about how your business runs.

A, B, C or D in the comments.
