Legal Initiative

On 11th May 2017, Legal Initiative had the privilege of hosting winner of Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (2012) and (2016), barrister Leslie Thomas QC.

His talk centred on the issue of deaths in police custody and the importance of recognising and taking action where agents of the state have failed to protect the liberty of the individual. It was an extremely pleasant evening, detailing the difficulties inherent on bringing actions against the police and state agencies, with plenty of useful questions asked.

Legal Initiaitve would like to thank Leslie for sharing his expertise on this area of law and providing some very insightful and useful advice to all who attended. We would also like to thank all those who came to the event during the intense examination season.
