I couldn’t possibly not mention in my series of practitioners with magic hands in my corner of South London. Since working with Hannah when I was pregnant I have long been a fan of reflexology and I highly recommend it as part of my birth-prep protocol. Especially for those women who are working up to the last minute, or who have other kids and their opportunities to relax are limited. Stress, cortisol, can hold off labour and slow it down, so anything you find deeply relaxing at this stage of pregnancy is going to help ready your body (and your cervix). Enter reflexology. Unless you hate your feet being touched, this is a deeply relaxing and powerful treatment to have. πŸ’€ Magnesium glycinate EVERY NIGHT
πŸ’€ A hot bath an hour or 2 before bed with magnesium flakes, great for the kids too 😴🀞🏼
πŸ’€ An eye mask to block out any light
πŸ’€ Bedtime teas night time tea soft and sleepy night time tea
πŸ’€ Minimise time on my phone in the couple of hours before bed (if I have to use it I turn down the screen brightness)
πŸ’€ yoga nidra for calm with or deep healing with
πŸ’€ Limit caffeine after 12:00 as I’m super sensitive to it
πŸ’€ Lavender oil or goodnight pillow mist
πŸ’€ Bedtime breathwork-box breathing or 4-7-8
πŸ’€ Regular reflexology sessions
πŸ’€ When sleep is not forthcoming or if I wake in the night, I get out of bed, trying not to focus on how rubbish I’ll feel the next day with little sleep and definitely no scrolling in the midnight hours πŸ˜‚ Stroking the cats always helps 😻
