Great 3D visuals bridge the gap between idea and reality. Drawing on her background in scenic design and visual storytelling, Wonder Works CAD Designer Esteniah Williams shares her top 5 ways to make 3D visuals more effective for clients.
1. Cover the essentials – Include key views like plan, elevation, section, and a clear Isometric view.
2. Use colour with intent – Highlight what you want to stand out and push secondary elements into the background. Be mindful of accessibility, including colour blindness.
3. Design for your audience – Consider who needs to understand the visuals and tailor style and detail accordingly.
4. Keep presentation simple – Sometimes all you need is a good image, clear title and a few bullet points.
5. Set up repeatable views – Lock in camera angles early so updates can be applied consistently as the design evolves.
