During a Hindu wedding ceremony, there's the most thoughtful ritual, whereby the priest calls upons three generations of ancestors to give the couple their blessings. I can imagine them all looking down through the clouds and showering the couple with their love. (Maybe that's why they say that rain is a sign of good luck)
It's mine and my husband's 7th wedding anniversary today and I remembered this photo of my Ammamma, who we sadly lost four years ago. I've only ever seen her cry twice in my life, once when her father passed away and the second was when she first saw me dressed as a bride in the morning of my wedding. Here she is, looking the happiest I've ever seen her, giving us her blessings.
It gives me comfort knowing that when my children get married, she will be honoured and she will be there, giving her blessings from up above.
Afterall the one's that love us never really leave us.
