It’s the news that visitors to Wales’ tallest mountain have been waiting for

Trains will run again to the top of Yr Wyddfa, or Snowdon, this spring, for the first passenger service to the summit since the end of the 2019 season

The cafe at the summit, Hafod Eryri, will also open - weather permitting - on 13 May for the first time since October 2019

The UK's highest visitor centre shut due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 and remained closed last year during maintenance work on the mountain railway

This is Esther. Her family are heartbroken, fearing they may never see her again after she went missing down a deep fissure in the ground on Boxing Day. 😞
Esther had been taken on a walk on Coity mountain near Blaenavon when she suddenly disappeared from view- the cocker spaniel had fallen in. A huge rescue operation began with emergency services, local caving club members and local community members involved. Despite their exhaustive efforts to retrieve Esther from the narrow and winding 50-foot drop, they couldn't find her. The owners dread to think that if she hasn't somehow found a way to safety, she has likely succumbed to hypothermia by now. As many as five other dogs have died this way and owner Andrew is angry about the lack of warning signs.
He said: "[The cracks and fissures] are covered over by thick heather, making them impossible to see until it's too late."
