Today we celebrate George Nakashima’s life and legacy.

Of Japanese descent and born in Washington, Nakashima became one of the most influential figures in woodworking.

His signature design was his large-scale tables made of large wood slabs featuring smooth tops, but unfinished natural edges, consisting of multiple slabs connected with butterfly joints.

His name is now synonymous with the best of 20th Century American art furniture.
