Last night, we were delighted to officially welcome the newest 26/27 cohort of our flagship Emerging Writers Programme, as we celebrated together at the launch event in the Reading Room.

Each emerging writer has been given a free London Library membership which includes writing development masterclasses, and networking opportunities to help support their work.

We can’t wait to see how the Library and its collection inspires and supports this vibrant cohort.

Every writer begins with an idea.

This National Writing Day, we're celebrating just a few of the authors who have found inspiration at The London Library over the last 185 years.

From Charles Dickens and Virginia Woolf to Kazuo Ishiguro and Hallie Rubenhold, our collection has inspired and supported generations of writers as they researched, imagined and created.

Last night, LL85: A Room of One’s Own opened to a sold out audience at The London Library.

Freya Mavor delivered a captivating performance in the adaptation of Woolf’s essay by award-winning playwright Linda Marshall Griffiths and directed by Roxana Silbert, performed in our atmospheric Reading Room, where Woolf would once have read, written, thought and been inspired.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fantastic evening as part of LL185, celebrating 185 years of The London Library as a home of inspiration.

We have a series of more events including captivating discussions along with the performance until 13 June.

These events are part of our public event programme, available to all. Visit our website to find out more and book tickets: www.londonlibrary.co.uk/whats-on
