⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Gripping. Mesmerising. Spine-chilling." -

"Gripping is the word." We’re chuffed to bits with this thoughtful review of Salome from Plays to See.

The production’s bold, decadent East London setting and powerhouse performances earned high praise:
Kirsty Taylor-Stokes as Salome: "She was mesmerising... Her final soliloquy to the severed head was spine-chilling."
Freddie Tong as Jokanaan: "Excellent, with an imposing stage presence and a strong bass voice."
Mae Heydorn as Herodias: "Compelling, singing with power and catching the fine line between fear of and contempt for her sleazy husband."
Mark Ravenhill’s direction: "A consistency of vision... The dance of the seven veils is solved brilliantly."

A massive thank you to our incredible cast and crew—your hard work and talent made this production unforgettable. And to our audiences: your energy fueled every performance.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ "A SPELLBINDING SALOME" - LondonTheatre1

LondonTheatre 1 calls our Salome "a knockout punch"—"an extraordinary opera" with "spine-tingling voices, a strong cast, and a spellbinding Salome" in Eleanor Dennis.

👑 Eleanor Dennis as Salome is "supremely sensuous, sexy, and seductive", delivering a "real coup de théâtre" that is "both a victory and a defeat".
🛡️ Joseph Gansert as Jochanaan creates "a fantastic, dramatic confrontation"—"power versus principle" at its most gripping.
💔 James Schouten as Narraboth is the courtier Salome "uses all her sexual power to persuade", driving one of the opera’s "most intense episodes". His role is pivotal in the "seduction escalation ladder" that defines the confrontation with Jochanaan.
🎭 The "staging is well thought out", with "good sightlines" and a "strong cast" that pulls the audience into the drama.
🎻 Ben Woodward conducts with "vigour and intensity", ensuring the "sound travels uninterruptedly" through York Hall.
🎨 Hannah Schmidt’s designs are "highly effective", heightening the production’s impact.

"This show is not one for the faint-hearted—if you like blood, guts, and gore, then this is right up your street!"

📅 Final performances: 18th, 19th, 21st, 23rd April
