The RISE Collective was founded in 2015 to tackle the persistent disenfranchisement and marginalisation of many of our young people. Through creative arts and media we are shaping opportunities for young people to build self-organising collectives, amplify their voices and connect to innovative platforms, professional experiences and strong role-models. Over ten days in May, RISE’s team of aspiring journalists were in Bristol to explore DIASPORA! 2026 - a festival produced by
Alongside the buzz and excitement at the festival, smaller and more intimate events were popping up throughout the city of Bristol, keeping the festival go-ers grounded and attuned to their bodies🧘🏽♀️
Journalist attended a soundbath workshop with the lead Rounik & he discussed his relationship to the healing properties of sound, guiding him through illness, grief and pain❤️🩹
This interview is a wonderful highlight of the ways sound can heal the soul, honouring the diaspora, the community & the ancestral links to navigating life🎶

Raise the Bar presents Poems of DIASPORA! featured headline poets, representing four different continents: Daljit Nagra, Maureen Onwunali, Bohdan Piasecki and Chloe Tenesha.
It was a dynamic, thought-provoking and life-affirming night from the South West’s leading live poetry night - captured by RISE Collective's & Oona Chanfi
