As the tide slips away, Putney reveals another side of itself.
The broad slipway, laid out in the late 19th century as part of the Embankment’s rowing landscape, becomes a place to sit, launch boats or simply pause by the water. Rowers return to the clubhouses, runners and cyclists gather after miles on the road at , pizzas arrive, glasses are raised and the evening stretches on.
