We were at TechArena in Stockholm last week. It's a market we know well. We've worked with companies like Fishbrain there and we're looking to work with many more.
Eugene Garla represented Index.dev and Codemotion across a week of real conversations with founders and scaleups.
A few things stood out.
1️⃣Defence is now a tech problem. Europe is done outsourcing its resilience and that changes where serious engineering talent goes next.
2️⃣Nobody was asking whether to adopt AI. They were asking how far behind they already are. Agents and automation are the baseline now.
3️⃣Sweden showed the contrast clearly. Lovable is building at the frontier. Ericsson is still figuring out internal AI adoption. Same country, same talent pool, completely different urgency. That gap exists everywhere.
Closing that gap is exactly what Index.dev and Codemotion are built for.
If you're hiring in the Nordics, we likely already have who you need. Senior AI engineers. Backend specialists in Python and Go. Cloud and DevOps engineers who build for scale. Tech leads who move products from idea to release.
All vetted, matched to your stack, with compliance, payments, and onboarding handled.

Quantum-secure satellite communications. Singapore. Relocation required. FPGA + quantum expertise.
Most recruitment platforms would’ve walked away.
When SpeQtral came to us in 2022, they had a problem we see often with deep-tech companies:
The role was incredibly specific, the talent pool was tiny, and most qualified candidates weren't interested in moving halfway across the world.
Speqtral works on quantum key distribution (QKD) – basically unhackable communication systems using quantum physics. Cool stuff. But that kind of work demands engineers with a rare mix of FPGA depth and quantum communication know-how.
These profiles don’t show up often.
Here's what we did:
➡︎ Focused the search on Eastern Europe, where deep technical expertise and relocation readiness overlap
➡︎ Pre-screened for both hard skills (FPGA design, protocols) and soft skills (collaboration, adaptability)
➡︎ Found a FPGA engineer who fit their budget, technical needs, and team culture
➡︎ Supported the entire relocation process, from visa to onboarding
Outcome:
✔One successful FPGA hire.
✔A year later, Speqtral returned for a C++ engineer. Same process, same outcome.
Roles like this need precision, follow-through, and reliability.
If your engineering role feels impossible to fill – too niche, too specialized, too specific on location or budget – that's where we work best. The harder the requirement, the more our global network matters.
