Andrea Bojkovska exclusively represented by Art Lab Agency , created this thoughtful, textured, and quietly symbolic illustration for Wellesley Magazine’s “Reflections in the Year of the Fire Horse.” Her work blends restrained color palettes with soft, hand-drawn forms and conceptual storytelling, creating images that feel both intimate and reflective. Through simplified compositions and subtle surreal elements, Andrea builds visual narratives that balance warmth, movement, and emotional depth in a way that feels timeless and editorial.

Her illustrations often explore memory, identity, transition, and human connection, using gentle textures and poetic spatial arrangements to guide the viewer through layered ideas. The result is a style that feels contemplative yet accessible, making her work especially suited for editorial, publishing, and cultural storytelling projects.

4 years ago, I started this illustration agency with no funding and a newborn baby.

What was I thinking?!

At the beginning, I was doing everything myself: editing portfolios, outreach, social media, meetings, the website… all of this while running on very little sleep, trying to understand how this industry really works. Well… at first, nothing was working. Then the first commission came along only to be dropped because of the artist’s origin.

But that didn’t stop me. Maybe partly because of my own background. I had moved to the UK alone at 16, with no family, so being an outsider and building something of my own always felt natural. Maybe that’s the immigrant mindset: you keep going because stopping is not an option.

Fast forward 4 years and I’m preparing for our own stand at the Bologna Book Fair.

The agency has grown into a team, and in the past 7 months alone, our art agents have already secured major clients.

To all my artists and students I want to say a massive thank you. You are not just part of the agency, you are my partners, and I’m deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

And to the clients who trusted us in the early days, when we had no names to show - thank you for taking that chance.

Building something from nothing comes with its challenges.

But is it worth it? Let’s wait and see. 😜
