Elie’s latest project is her debut full-length album, recorded for the first time under label GingerDog Records and produced by renowned record producer Kevin Duncan. The new album, Gold Dirt, is the next step in Elie’s singer-songwriter career. The title track is a metaphor for quite literally wading through the dirt to pull out the good stuff. Featuring a number of talented musicians including James Delarre (Toppette!!, Mawkin, Eliza Carthy, Jim Moray) on fiddle and mandolin, Laurence Hunt (Lisa Knapp, Jim Sutherland, Eliza Carthy, Emily Portman) on drums and percussion and Sam Norman (Benji Kirkpatrick, Jim Moray, Brad Rabuchin, Pumana) on double bass and bass. Influenced by artists such as First Aid Kit, Brandi Carlile and Fiona Apple, Elie, a former professionally trained jazz flautist, uses emotion to create her own seductive and haunting brand. ‘I have to do this, if it wasn’t for that feeling, I’d do something that actually makes me more money!’.
