to sing personally, a song my mother and I hold, but Today, on International Women’s Day, I honour my own — and the women of the world.
With love & thoughts of my mother, & her mother I never had the chance to know... my grandmother we laid to rest on this day a few years ago.
My thoughts of my sister, her mother who’s spirit left us recently & of my superhero niece, and my step mother
— of the generations of unbelievable women in my own family.
The women I was taught by, I was raised around, my colleagues, my friends
— the venerations of love.
With personal connections to the ongoing & growing war, my thoughts also turned to all the women living through it: the mothers, daughters, sisters, & babies whose lives are shaped by conflict.
Today I hold space for them all - for their rights, their justice, and the call for action that still echoes across the world. For their journeys, their lives, & their stories.
