Basic Biomechanics In Orthopaedics - BBiOrth - Course

biomechanical principles in orthopaedics. The material is covered by a range of speakers, who are keen to relate the theory to surgical examples. The faculty includes orthopaedic registrars and consultants as well as a radiology registrar. Many of the faculty members have a higher postgraduate degree in addition to the surgical diplomas. The course is delivered over one day with a mixture of lectures and small group break out sessions. The participants are divided according to their level of training. After attending the course, the participants should feel more confident about their understanding of the loads encountered in the different parts of the musculokeletal system and how the commonly used orthopaedic implants 'work'. We are passionate about orthopaedic biomechanics, and our goal is to popularise this somewhat neglected subject in the early medical training!
