Not all addictive behaviour looks the way you might expect. The patterns that can subsume a life don't always get named as a 'problem'.
This means the people carrying them can sometimes go a long time before asking whether what they're doing actually counts.
This week is , and the theme is action; for yourself, for someone else, for all of us. And we believe It’s important to note that action for your own mental health, when addictive behaviours are part of the picture, don’t have to look the way the posters suggest.
Behavioural addictions – gambling, gaming, internet and social media use, s*x and p**n, binge eating – can go unrecognised both by the people experiencing them and by those around them. They share more with substance use disorders than most realise, and research has consistently linked them to other mental health conditions.
Action for addictive behaviours is action for your own mental wellbeing. It doesn't have to be residential rehab or a public declaration. It can be an initial assessment with someone who won't judge what you say. It can be a single conversation. It can be one hour, online, from your kitchen table.
You don't need to be sure that it's a problem to reach out for help.

As the days grow shorter and the evenings darker, old habits can feel more tempting. Darkness can make it harder to see the light, but there's always a way forward.
If you’re finding it tough, don't worry. There are plenty of small steps you can take towards feeling better. You don’t need to make huge changes all at once—sometimes, the smallest actions can have the biggest impact.
Whether it’s a simple walk in daylight, lighting a comforting candle, or picking up the phone to call a friend, these small things can lift your spirits and help you stay grounded.
Remember, you don’t have to do it alone. If you need support, we're always here to help you.
