They just don’t make like this anymore…
A bit of damage on this one, but this scarce first edition belonged to John Quinn. He was a major collector of art and manuscripts, who’d helped T. S. Eliot with his manuscript of The Waste Land, as well as supporting W. B. Yeats with his founding of the Abbey Theatre. Quinn’s bookplate was designed by the younger Jack B. Yeats.
BTW we will be taking this to Firsts fair at the Saatchi Gallery next month (14th-17th May 2026). Link in bio for a free ticket!
