Sir Jackie Stewart's emotional tribute to Jim Clark at Goodwood Revival:
— Sir Jackie Stewart paid homage to his late friend and two-time Formula 1 champion Jim Clark during the 2025 Goodwood Revival, marking 60 years since Clark's 1965 championship victory. Stewart reflected on their friendship, noting:
“He was a wonderful friend. As two Scots, to participate in Formula 1 at that time was something new, but Jim was a very, very good friend of Helen and I.”
— Stewart shared memories of their time together, emphasizing Clark's exceptional driving skills and their shared living arrangements in London:
“Throughout his career, he was the cleanest, best driver that I had ever been playing part of. We shared in London an apartment together, John Whitmore gave it to us, and Jim and I spent a lot of time there.”
— Overcome with emotion, Stewart expressed his enduring sensitivity about Clark's legacy:
“So even now, I feel sensitive about the whole thing.”
— The Goodwood Revival celebrated Clark's achievements with a unique tribute, releasing 50 sheep onto the circuit to honor his roots as the son of a sheep farmer in Fife, Scotland. The event also featured over 30 cars associated with Clark, including the Lotus 25, Lotus 38, and several Ford Cortinas, participating in the St. Mary's Trophy.
— Clark's illustrious career included 25 grand prix wins, 32 podium finishes, 33 pole positions, and 28 fastest laps from 1960 to 1968. He and Stewart set a lap record at Goodwood in 1965, which remains unbroken.
— The Duke of Richmond highlighted the significance of Clark's achievements, particularly his unique 1965 victories:
“It’s such a privilege to celebrate Jim Clark at the Goodwood Revival this year. His achievements in 1965 are the stuff of legend, including uniquely winning the Formula 1 World Championship and the Indy 500 in the same season.”
