Trainee Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing (SSW) Coordinator

Our Trainee Programme..

As a trainee at VVB, we’ll equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need to become a qualified Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing Co-ordinator. We’ll reward you with a starting salary of £18,000 - £21,000 a year. And on top of your salary, you’ll also have access to employee benefits package.

This is a three-year programme, where you can look forward to:

-A work-based learning programme designed to provide you with maximum exposure to our business and the wider infrastructure industry
-Achieving nationally recognised Level 3 qualification in Business Administration along with nationally recognised audit qualifications
-Getting involved in a range of projects and initiatives on top of your everyday role, giving you the chance to develop at a fast pace

-Building your professional network working with colleagues from across the infrastructure industry
-Understanding of legal duties and compliance in regard to Safe, Sustainability and Wellbeing

The role..

The SSW Coordinator is responsible for managing, assisting, and collaborating the administrative element of our approach to Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing. This includes providing administrative support to the VVB SSW Team, projects and office locations.

Key Responsibilities.

-Recording and managing Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing Data
-Authoring Data based reports from our systems such as Notify, Power BI and A-Site
-Co-ordinating the flow of SSW information required for projects and offices such as toolbox talks, presentations, records, and communications
-Assisting with campaigns linked to Safe, Sustainable or Wellbeing
-Assist with delivering social value such as volunteering
-Co-ordination of internal and external training, briefings, meetings, and other activities linked to project delivery
-Assisting the SSW Team with inspections, audits and relevant information linked to these
-Supporting and updating the VVB intranet ‘CORE’
-Other administrative tasks as required

Key Qualifications.

-5 GCSE’s A*- C or 8 to 4 including English and Maths or equivalent

Key Skills.

-IT skills
-Written skills I.e. report writing, communication to employees
-Planning skills (Time and workload)

At VVB, we are currently recruiting for a H&S Advisor. The H&S Advisor will be responsible for providing health and safety advice and support to both site and office locations specifically for the Highways Sector, creating an ethos of collaboration and shared purpose between the Safe, Sustainability, Wellbeing and other VVB employees and departments.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide support, guidance and advice to highways offices, depots and site locations on health, safety and environmental matters, in-line with the VVB Management Systems
- Conduct inspections and audits across VVB Highways Frameworks, projects and depots ensuring improvement actions are issued, implemented, and embedded based on the ethos of continuous improvement
- Conduct Toolbox Talks, brief safety alerts, and assist in customer briefings when called upon.
- Provide coaching & instruction to highways sector employees and contractors with regards to health and safety
- Conduct site health and safety training as required
- Attend and provide health and safety input at Project Meetings
- Ensure all incidents, observations and suggestions are correctly reported and support is provided to the team to close out and address the raised issues.
- Represent VVB as the Highways Health and Safety Lead with our customers such as National Highways, Connect Plus and local authorities.
- Produce and maintain Highways specific Health, Safety and Environmental performance indicators including customer indicators
- Work with the Highways Teams to deliver continuous improvement across the sector
- Support accreditations such as HERS, National Highways Sector Scheme and other highway focussed accreditations.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential

Previous experience as a Health and Safety Advisor within a Highways Environment.
Previous experience working on National Highways schemes
NEBOSH Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
CSCS/ ECS card
Full UK driver’s license
Desirable

Working knowledge of National Highways Sector Schemes and Highways Electrical Registration Scheme
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
Previous experience of working in an electrical/ mechanical trade
NEBOSH Diploma/ NCRQ Diploma
Internal 45001 Auditor
Mental Health First Aider
HERS Card
This position is project based and offers the opportunity for home-working for 1-2 days per week. In return we offer a competitive salary and package including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, private medical insurance, pension scheme and more!
