Since 2000, 62,000 Christians in Nigeria have been murdered in genocide perpetrated by Islamist jihadist groups including Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), and Fulani militias.

Somehow, his music was both raw and near-perfect.
Complex but never cold.
Deeply personal, yet it felt like it belonged to all of us.

He showed us that vulnerability could be crafted into something timeless — that emotion and precision weren’t opposites, they were partners.
The sounds he made felt like they came from somewhere else, and yet they spoke right to the center of being human.

We learned how to feel from his songs.
We learned how to listen.
We’re still learning.
