The British Science Association (BSA) is a charity, founded in 1831. We develop science engagement programmes for audiences underrepresented in, and underserved by, science. Our work is delivered through the education sector; public-facing events and campaigns; and influencing stakeholders. For more information visit our website, www.britishscienceassociation.org

We hope you enjoyed and felt inspired by our campaign for British Science Week 2026!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the campaign, and in particular to our sponsors , Urenco, , and KCL for their support.

The campaign has highlighted inspiring individuals across diverse STEM fields - from sustainable fashion and AI to nuclear medicine, genomics, and system engineering.

These stories demonstrate that there is no single path to success in STEM, only remarkable journeys shaped by curiosity, resilience, and creativity.

Through this campaign, we have sought to make science more inclusive, representative, and connected to society, and we are grateful to all who have helped amplify these voices.

Smashing Stereotypes is back for its 7th year, and this year the campaign is the biggest yet!

Meet eight new scientists working across the sector who share their stories and prove there’s no ‘correct’ route to a career in science, and that it’s a workforce that’s open to all.

From sustainable fashion to medical isotopes, this year’s cohort showcase a broad range of STEM areas young people may never have heard of, or realised counted as science!

is just a few days away, and we hope you’ve been enjoying the ‘Curiosity: what's your question’-themed activity packs and can’t wait to run your events during the Week!

Don’t forget to also take part in our poster competition! This year we're asking children and young people aged 3-19 to create posters about what they think will make a ‘good’/’positive’ childhood in the future.
