Fantastic news today for JLR Halewood and Merseyside after it was announced that Halewood will become JLR’s first all-electric production facility. We can also reveal that the first all-electric car built at JLR Halewood will be from the Range Rover family and will launch in 2025. Here’s to a bright, exciting, electrified future!

Recycling heroes’ was a key theme of Global Recycling Day last Saturday (18 March) which is why we would like to give a special shout out to some of our own ‘recycling heroes’ from Halewood, including Phil Cotterill, George Johnson, Graham Fearn, Neil Ging and Jordan Crawford-Roberts – who all work in our Paint Shop Maintenance team.
Earlier this year, several large motor control panels were being removed as part of a refurbishment of the pre-treatment and e-coat departments in our Paint Shop. Rather than sending the panels straight to the scrapyard, the team took it upon themselves to strip them down, so they could be recycled more sustainably.
Sustainability sits at the core of our Reimagine strategy and as a business we aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions across our supply chain, products and operations by 2039, with the electrification of our vehicles being a key element of this.
Just as our recycling heroes have done here, we also need to ensure we actively recycle and reuse our waste and materials wherever we can - in this way we will have a positive societal impact, preserve natural resources and also reduce waste in our supply chain. Great job team!

As we begin a new year, we’d like to reflect on some of the progress we have made at Halewood on our Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) journey over the last 12 months.
This has included the installation of gender-neutral toilets and changing facilities across the site, expressing rooms for new parents, and lockers which provide access to free sanitary wear in all our female toilets, as well as building a new Quiet Room for reflection and prayer.
In addition to these physical changes, we are also proud of the cultural journey we embarked upon as a workforce last year, recognising key celebrations such as Hannukah, Easter, Holi, Manchester Pride, Black History Month, Diwali, Hannukah and Christmas, to name a few.
It’s hard to pick out a single D&I highlight from 2022 but one which stands out for many of our employees is when our colleagues from Trim and Final demonstrated true unity in the workplace by painting a shopfloor pedestrian crossing in the rainbow colours of the Pride flag. They chose that specific crossing because it was shaped in an L, which could represent ‘love’. Due to the popularity of the project, there are now plans in place to create more Pride pedestrian crossings around the factory over the coming months.
We have lots more initiatives planned for 2023 to create more inclusive workspaces for our people - the heart of our business – and we look forward to sharing these with you.
