The month of barefoot adventures, sun-warmed shoulders, and evenings that seem to last forever.

A time for wildflower picking, chasing butterflies, eating dinner outside, and saying “yes” to one more walk before bedtime.

July reminds us that the best memories are rarely planned.

They’re found in muddy feet, melting ice creams, campfire stories, seashell collections, and the laughter that echoes long after the sun begins to set.

So here’s to slowing down, making space for adventure, and embracing the simple magic that summer brings.

👑✨ We honestly can’t believe we’re saying this… August marks the final adventure in this collection!

Over the past year, we’ve travelled through history together, met inspiring people, explored fascinating places, connected with nature, baked, planted, crafted, experimented, and watched your beautiful Leporello timeline grow month by month. What an incredible journey it’s been. 💛

To help you plan ahead (and because we have something very exciting to share for September 👀), we’re releasing August’s box a little earlier than usual.

For our final adventure, Whimsy journeys to Alexandria, where children will discover the fascinating world of Cleopatra VII and Ancient Egypt. They’ll explore chemistry through hands-on science, create beautiful Egyptian-inspired crafts, weave with willow, learn how to help honey bees, bake delicious honey oat flapjacks, and complete the final page of their Leporello timeline booklet.

We hope you’re as proud of everything you’ve created together this year as we are. Those timeline booklets are so much more than a craft - they’re a keepsake of twelve months of curiosity, creativity, and time spent learning side by side.

But don’t worry… this isn’t goodbye.

We’re already busy preparing something very special for September, and we honestly can’t wait to share what’s coming next. We have a feeling you’re going to love it.

Sometimes it still feels a little surreal that Whimsy & Bug has grown into what it is today.
It never started as a business plan.
It started with two mums, a pile of library books, muddy walks, kitchen table crafts and children who were endlessly curious about the world around them.
Years later, not much has changed.
We’re still home educating.
We’re still opening these boxes with our own children every month.
We’re still tweaking activities after trying them ourselves, changing things that don’t quite work, and getting just as excited as our children when a story sparks a whole new adventure.
Everything we create comes from a place of genuinely wanting to make learning feel magical, connected and full of wonder.

How long have you been on your home education (or learning) journey?

Decided to take a trip to Harewood House Trust this morning. We thought it would be cool. It was not 🫠🥵 but we did enjoy the peace. Bird song, crickets, the flutter of butterfly wings. It was what we needed. We also took our Whimsy & Bug booklet to search for wild flowers and we found them all! 🦋🐦‍⬛🌲
