GET BAKED
29/01/2024
It’s hard to believe that when we opened in 2021, we sold slices of Bruce for £7.
This quickly (within weeks) rose to £9, followed by £11, and ultimately £12.
However, we charge £15 for a slice of Bruce on our online store (for nationwide delivery) and the time has now come to charge the same in-store.
We recently implemented the use of our nationwide boxes in-store — something which we never used to use. I did this because I know how much people love the box, and I want our customers to get the full experience when purchasing Bruce.
Our nationwide packaging is expensive, because it’s really good, and keeps Bruce in perfection condition for travel.
Since its formation in 2011, I have tried to be as open and honest as possible about the business — I don’t believe in lying to customers, it doesn’t help to build a community which is what I’ve always strived to do.
At £12, we’re just not making enough profit. Bruce is both the highest-selling item on the menu, and the lowest-margin.
That doesn’t make good business sense.
I’m not going to sit here and spend time justifying why I think £15 is a fair price, but I do, and I know that the overwhelming majority of you that order it will feel the same.
This leads me to my next point — we are limiting Bruce to 2 slices per customer, for walk in orders only.
This means that if you walk into our Headingley store and want to order Bruce, you’ll be limited to 2 slices.
However, if you pre-order you’ll be able to order as many as is in stock.
Again, this does not affect nationwide Bruce (although good luck ordering that).
I’m doing this because we have reached a point now where people regularly travel from all over the country (and world) to purchase Bruce.
I can’t handle the look on another poor, disappointed bastard’s face when they realise that the person in the queue in front of them just bought the last 6 slices.
Yes, they could (and should) have pre-ordered, but some people just don’t realise that they’re able to, and it’s upsetting (they’re idiots though).
This is effective from tomorrow.
All the Fred & Rose.

Good evening.
You look wonderful by the way, really like what you’ve done with the place — just fantastic.
Anyway listen, we’ve been nominated at the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards in the “Best Desserts” category.
As lots of you on here know, we’ve been delivering desserts before Deliveroo even existed — we always used to use our own delivery drivers and operated everything in-house, but as the delivery landscape changed, we had to as well.
We are OGs when it comes to putting cake in a vehicle and sending it to your house — I don’t think there’s anyone in the country that does it better than we do — and seeing as we’re the highest rated dessert business on Deliveroo in the U.K. I think my claims are substantiated.
I want to win the award, because I think our team deserve it, and you know what I think I deserve it too.
If you vote, Deliveroo enter you into a prize draw to win £500 worth of food, so that’s pretty good too if we’re honest with each other for a change.
So, with all of this in mind, I’d really appreciate it if you could vote for us — the voting closes on the 21st.
It’ll take you about 10 seconds — which is less time than it takes to ring your mum and call her a “bloody liability.”
Let’s face it though — she is a liability. Three times I’ve been round hers in the past few months and not once has she offered me a plate of turkey dinosaurs, chips and beans.
Not once.
She makes me sick, and if you don’t vote, so do you.
You’re both as bad as each other.
Anyway link to voting is in the comments — do the right thing or you’ll find yourself feeling bad later on when you’re in bed and you can’t sleep because your mind is racing thinking about earlier on in the evening when you should have voted.
