Before any clinical signs of an injury can be seen the tissue undergoes minor changes which can destabilise the area and if undetected the tissue can break down resulting in more serious damage. Thermal imaging is a non-contact method of capturing images of surface infrared radiation emissions from a horse. The thermal images are analysed to see if there are any asymmetrical thermal patterns which can isolate areas of interest that can be investigated further.
Thermal imaging can be used for a whole body well-being scan or tailored for specific areas of the body. Thermal imaging can be used to monitor injuries and help the rehabilitation process.
