Thousands of Beko and Blomberg dryers, sold between May - November 2012, could be faulty and a serious fire risk. Beko have issued a safety alert and urge owners not to use affected machines.

Safety Tip!

It is important that appliances are fitted with the correct fuse to avoid the possibility of dangerous electrical fires.

Fuses are designed to ‘blow’ and cut off the supply of power when excessive current is drawn - or a 'surge'. Using a 13 amp fuse when an appliance only requires a 3 amp fuse is risky as the higher rated fuse may not blow in the event of a power surge. The excessive current is then free to travel through to the appliances cable – a major fire risk.

Appliances with a power rating of 700w and above should be fitted with a 13 amp fuse.

Appliances with a rating below 700w should be fitted with a 3 amp fuse.
